10月9日 Oh Look!Oh Gee! Look at that! North Korea now has nukes! Isn't that great? Wow. The UN was real effective at stopping that one!
God bless!
A Mom in America 9月26日 Train left.I am so sorely disappointed in the American people this morning that I can't even begin to describe it. After checking out the NBC news video on this Clinton thing, I cannot believe that what is being talked about is how Clinton stood up to this reporter and people respect that.
I guess it's finally happened. People have become so brainwashed by the constant deluge of "newspeak" that they no longer are capable of actually hearing what is being said. People's minds are so numbed by the sensationalism that all they look for in a news broadcast is sombody bouncing around in their chair and jesticulating while speaking loudly.
America, you don't see things anymore and you certainly don't hear.
For all those who "missed the train" on this one, our former President went on national television and bragged about hiring "people" outside of our military to kill Bin Laden because the Military told him he was nuts!
I guess we no longer live in a nation where no one is above the law because, not for nothing, the last I knew contract killing was against the law.
I guess that it really doesn't matter because we all want Bin Laden dead, and hey, he tried, right? At least he says he tried...after the fact.
I guess that if anybody else in the country hired "people" to kill whomever they didn't like, they wouldn't be thrown in jail. Welcome to the "Wild Wild West, Gang!" where nobody is responsible for their actions and law is a relative thing.
I guess nobody really cares that this guy had some pretty questionable deaths happen within his administration while he was in office. What was that little land deal thingie? White Water, I believe it was.
I guess none of that matters because he's Bill Clinton and he looks good on tv. Lot's of charisma, ya know?
And all they can report on is how he "stood up" to the interviewer.
Makes me sick.
For those who are interested.... The list at the bottom of the linked page below might be of interest.
God bless!
A Mom in America 9月25日 Hmm..... Let's think about this one....Some things are just too rich to not comment on. Today's querry. If Bill Clinton "contracted" someone to kill Bin Laden during his administration, why wouldn't he "contract" to have other people more close to his administration and who could cause problems in little legal messes he found himself and his spouse ensnared in, oh let's just say knocked off and thrown in the bushes in a park in DC?
Let's look at this one, gang. He has openly admited in a television interview that he put out a hit on Bin Laden. He didn't use our military. He "contracted" someone. I'm not that comfortable knowing that a former President, while in office, was that connected with organized crime that he knew how to do that. I'm even less comfortable knowing that his spouse, the Senator of this State that I did not vote for, is considering running for the Presidency now and that she's still married to a man who is so connected with international organized crime, and let's face it these are terrorist organizations who do this stuff, to put hits out on anyone on the planet he chooses to.
Kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it?
I think some people should probably not be allowed to speak publicly and Bill Clinton is one of them.
He definitely gets the Napoleon Dymomite award for today.
Check it out!! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14986702/
Did you read it?
Okay, I wanna hear this one in unison!
Ugh, Idiot!
Now don't you feel better after saying it?
God bless!

7月27日 Food for thought.....I'm looking at these last two comments on here, and it's really cracking me up. Right there, I'm seeing two completely different ends of the spectrum. Elizabeth, relying on others to think for you and speak for you is probably the biggest problem we are facing on this planet right now and in this country! Everyone wants a movie star or celebrity to be their icon to worship and follow because people are so screwed up that they can't even distinguish what the right thing is anymore.
If the world does not want to be ruled by terror, then the world needs to stop it. Not just the United States and not just Britian. Everyone needs to not tolerate the garbage that we have been dealing with for all of these years. When the #2 of al Qaida comes out with his latest video calling for war all over the planet against anyone who doesn't agree with him, the world needs to deal with it and Mac, that includes the government of Lebanon. Turning a blind eye to terrorism and sheltering it is not okay anymore. Lebanon should have dealt with the problem before it became one and if they couldn't, they should have asked for help.
That would have been the responsible thing to do for the little girl you talk about. It would have been the responsible thing to do for her mother. It would have been the responsible thing to do for you and for all of us. The reason it did not happen is because the government there was not functioning for anyone except itself and a lot of people are dying and suffering because of it.
As a planet, we cannot afford that any longer. As a planet, we cannot afford business to be run as usual at the UN. As a planet, we cannot afford greedy people to hide behind religion and sacrifice masses because they want to rule the planet through oil. That's what al-Qaida is all about. That's why they want to rule by terror. They want the oil. That's the long and the short of it. Any freedom is a threat to that, so freedom must go in their way of thinking.
Mac, I'm proud of what you did! I may not agree with it, but you're thinking and that's a big thing!!!! I think the biggest problem you face in this is that these groups do not want to talk. They want to rule and if you stand in their way, they want you dead. Israel is a case in point. They don't want to talk with Israel, they want Israel gone and have stated this repeatedly. There's a problem in that kind of thinking that all of the talking in the world is not going to improve and yes, that talking will kill people because they are not going to stop. They haven't in Iraq. They won't in Lebanon either. They will continue attacking Israel and that is not okay. In the al-Qaida way of thinking, Israel was bad enough. To now have Israel and Iraq standing free is not only a major threat to their plan, but not tolerable. Lebanon, Israel and Iraq are bleeding because of it.
Those who are responsible, need to be held accountable by the entire planet. Not doing so, only perpetuates the problem.
Mac, rest. You've had a tough time and it's going to take a while to come out of it. Believe me when I say that I know how you feel. It's always going to be a part of you. We're doing okay here. Can't really talk about what's been going on with the boys. Suffice it to say that it has not been fun lately but all are now able. Being a Mom is rough! None of this was in any of the pregnancy books I read.
Elizabeth, looking to me or anyone else on the planet to worship because I or anyone else have "the answers" is not why God gave you a brain. He wants you to think. He wants you to reason. He wants you to realize that there is a right and a wrong in things, not because I said so but because He made it that way. I don't have all of the answers. I am one person on this planet of billions and I have all of the flaws indigenous to humanity. I'm sure my thinking is limited and my answers won't work for everyone...particularly al-Qaida. The thing is, maybe your solutions combined with mine and Mac's and the other few billion around the world can make things work. That can't happen unless we are all thinking and speaking our minds and consciences.
God bless!
A Mom in America 6月19日 Ok, Kids. Story Time!Since we obviously missed the last one, a refresher course on.....Paul McCartney and ..."The Beatles."
Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, in the mythical land of "the "60's", there were these guys, ya know? They were called "The Beatles." They sang songs that kids in England liked. As a matter of fact, kids in England liked them so much that American record company people started to pay attention to them and so did a man named Ed Sullivan.
"Hey!" they thought. "This could be big bucks!" So they got with the agent of "The Beatles", cut a deal and brought these guys over to America to be on "The Ed Sullivan Show" on tv! That was a show where Mr. Ed Sullivan had different people come on his show and perform their "acts" or the one thing on the planet they knew how to do, like play the musical spoons. It was called a "variety show" back then and that is what we usually watched on television, which is what they called tv back in the mythical land of the '60's, when we weren't watching Captain Kangaroo or Howdie Doodie.
"The Beatles" got off the plane, girls screamed, cried and swooned, even more than they did for Frank
Sinatra or Elvis Presley, and boys decided that maybe they should grow their hair out like "The Beatles" if they wanted a date to the prom.
History was made.
The world was changed.
Big bucks were being made and everybody under the age of 30 worshipped "The Beatles."
Noticing the age cut-off, and the possibility of the youth of the planet deciding that maybe their parents were right when they said that "The Beatles" needed to cut their hair, and realizing that this would definitely cut into the profit margin, "The Beatles" came up with a plan. They would tell all the youth of the planet "Don't trust anyone over 30!" ( Yeah, that really was a "Beatles" thing. )
Being gullible youth, they believed it.
Seeing the impact they had made in that one statement, although they did not use the word "impact" back then for anything other than bombs, (that was a variation of the word generally accepted in the "news speak "of the 80's and 90's and not the book "1984") they decided to literally "capitalize" on the idea and become the anti-thesis of "the establishment" which consisted of ....you guessed it, anyone over the age of 30! Thus the demise of the American family, as we knew it and the world fame and blockbuster record sales of and by "The Beatles."
Now, the humor in this picture comes in when one realizes that everyone who lives long enough, turns 31. As a point of fact, they turn 32 as well! People age. "The Beatles" hadn't counted on that one! As a point of fact, "When I'm 64" was a mockery of the fact that people do age. They were sure, it wasn't going to happen to them. For Paul McCartney, it has. All of those lies that he literally sold and convinced the youth of the planet were the truth, like faith in God, financial security, a nice house, a family to love, was so horrible to have, he is now dying his hair to try to maintain for himself.
Yes, children, he believed in what he told young people on this planet all the way to the bank, so much that he literally pulled out the Grecian Formula as soon as his "establishment " became threatened...which was, correct me if I'm wrong here Mac, probably somewhere in his 30's.
Kids, Paul McCartney is now 64. His hair is now gray. He dyes it to maintain the lie that he started in the '60's. "The Beatles" were never about love or peace. They were about money. That was just about all. He likes his fancy house. He likes his swimming pools. He likes being rich. Last I heard, Yoko wasn't real upset about any of those "perks" either.
The moral of the story here, kids, is that rock stars, movie stars, even Michael Moore and Algur...or Al Gore as some would have it, all of them will tell you whatever you want to believe as long as it maintains the lifestyle they want to have. They don't care about you. They don't care about the planet. They care about their swimming pools. If you want to be just like them, be prepared to pull out the Grecian Formula and lie your way through what could have been the most productive and enjoyable part of your life.
If not, listen to your parents. Don't be afraid to love all that you have come from or the place where you could go and above all else, don't be afraid to grow old! The wisdom, accompanied by gray hairs and wrinkles, that comes with those years of hard work, tears and loving are what life is about! I'm proud of my gray hairs, each and every one of them! They have come at an incredible price, but also incredible reward. I hope, that by keeping mine, my own children will know the value of a life lived in real honesty and love. Gray hairs show that. The media tries to hide it because they are afraid that what is true won't sell. I'm betting it will and I know that my daughter and sons are going to have incredible hair when they are....64! Me too!
Time for bed for all of you because I'm tired!
Here's a kiss!
God bless!

6月13日 EncouragedSome days things happen and no matter how hard I try, I can't not write about them. Today is one of those days. I know I'm just one person in this country with one voice and what I think or say really doesn't matter much but this day, I really have to say that I'm proud of what my President did. I really am.
Many will spend the next few days and weeks analyzing the faults of what happened today. They will find the flaws in the speeches, the breeches of security and add them to the every growing list of things the President has done wrong in this administration and this war. The thing is, something very right happened today as well, and I saw it happen. I saw my President stand not just before AFN cameras and tell his military that he is thankful for them, I saw my President stand before the world and tell the Prime Minister of Iraq something I have longed to hear. He put it simply. There were no complex ideas or words to it. He just said to this man "When America makes a promise, she keeps that promise."
In a time when marriages crumble daily, children get scooped up into foster homes and words like honor, respect and valour are no longer taught in schools, I felt something stir inside of me when I finally heard those words. I sensed a truth in that one simple statement that sums up so much of what I want to believe about my country. America was once a place that was founded on simple, uncomplicated statements like this. Statements of truth that was uncompromised. In this time when it seems everything is compromised and the word commitment has no meaning, I found this statement gave me hope for the America that went to sleep after Vietnam. It gave me hope that just maybe there is some glimmer of stregnth and commitment left in this land. It reawakened the surety that we are capable of so much in this nation, if we have the courage to believe in ourselves and the freedom we have here. And I, as just one America out of a multitude, am encouraged.
God Bless!
A Mom in America 4月28日 Welcome.....to the utopian world of Michael Moore. Iran, it seems, is in complete defiance of the U.N. on the nuclear issue. Big surprise there! It also seems that, well yes, they are kind of at the top of the list of nations that are sponsoring terrorism... But I just made all of that up, didn't I? Yeah... Just keep watching, gang! The best is yet to come on this one and it's promising to be a big bang when it does!
It also seems that some of you are a little dismayed that your nice, friendly Democrat representatives aren't listening to you. In fact, they don't even acknowlege your concerns in any way shape or form! Seems they are a bit self-centered and are only concerned with perpetuating their power. How disallusioning!
Welcome to the world that you've created by only looking at what you wanted to see and confining your mind to the "facts" as dictated to you by the media! Yeah! Have fun trying to fix all of this, gang, because you're on a timer now. As Darfur starves, Iran is going nuclear. Is it because America hasn't been saying anything? Is it because America hasn't been giving money to the U.N.? No. It's because the rest of the world hasn't.
U.N.'s a great idea and would be a really great thing if it worked. Unfortunately, it doesn't because we are the only one's who take responsibility and live up to it. $188,000,000 dollars we have given for relief in Darfur. Italy has given $1.2 million. Nobody else has. So they starve. Iran? We've been trying to prevent nuclear catastrophy there since the inception of the program. Now that they have enriched uranium, and are thumbing their noses at the world, the U.N. is seeing this as a possible problem that there is no real way of stopping.
I'd say send in the military, but they are currently a little busy cleaning up the mess from the ever effective U.N. sanctions that were imposed on Iraq a few years ago. Maybe if we impose them on Iran, it will work better this time! Yeah! Let's do that!
Have a great weekend!
God bless!
A Mom in America 4月12日 Just a thought...Anybody out there watching this Iran thing? Not for nothing, but ..... We are in a war, people. Anyone out there who thinks Iran isn't backing the insurgency in this thing doesn't have the two brain cells necessary to rub together to create coherent thought. In times like these, it is imperative to make those responsible, accountable. I'm seeing a lot of protesting going on about immigration. Nobody seems to care....particularly at the UN, about the proliferation on nuclear weapons that I have no doubt are aimed at the US and are being developed to control the Gulf.
I'm also reading a whole bunch about how America doesn't like paying high gas prices. Guess what, gang. $3.00 a gallon ain't nothing compared to what you're going to be paying once Iran gets a warhead going! They have the missiles, folks. They've got enriched uranium. How long do you think it's going to be before they start shooting those things off? I'd say six months tops before they attempt to take the Gulf.
But you sit there and do nothing, America. You sit there trying to relive the 60's by going to your stupid little protests that mean absolutely nothing. You protest with Cindy Sheehan and the like and pretend to be doing something by yelling at our President and do absolutely nothing to stop the perpetuation of this war. Just for the record, WE are not developing those weapons for Iran. WE have been avidly requesting that the UN step in. The good old UN doesn't seem to think it's a problem though....and won't until it's too late.
This is NOT the 1960's. This is NOT Vietnam. This IS the Middle East and it's 2006.
Strategically speaking, after they get the Gulf, we won't be the first target. Isreal will go first, followed by Russia, Germany, France and England probably in pretty rapid succession. Then they'll aim at us. I know, it isn't real relevant to you, America, as Europe will be involved first. It won't matter to you until there's a nuke on your doorstep. It's more relevant for you to protest Hiroshima than to stop this whole thing from spiraling into a World War that will destroy the planet. It's more relevant for you to demand ethanol be added to our gasoline than it is to let totalitarian wacko's develop weapons that can end all life as we know it here. It's more relevant for you to demand that we bring every soldier home today and hide behind our little techno spaces debating the meaningless than it is to take a real stand on something that will not only determine how you live, but will determine how people will live in this country and on this planet for generations to come.
There is nothing in this world that I want more than to have my kids home. No one wants to see this war end more than I do. The thing is, that isn't going to happen if we run away and hide, America. It will only get worse if we do that. The media is all up in arms because they say we are going to make the first strike in Iran. We aren't going to have to do that. The day that Iran has the capability, they will take the Gulf. The Islamo-fascists want complete control of this planets oil. Iran is an Islamo-fascist nation. Iraq under Hussein was too. That's why he invaded Kuwait, gang! These people have been working this for decades, folks. Whether it's Al-Qaida or Iran or Saddam Hussein, owning the Gulf is the first step to complete control of this planet.
Two things need to happen here. Iraq needs to stand free and Iran needs to be prevented from going nuclear. You can say what you want about Bush wanting the oil there. Selfishly motivated or not, he's trying to keep the planet's oil open to free trade. He's also trying to prevent the planet from declining into totalitarian rule. Iran, Al-Qaida, they aren't going to be so magnanimous.
You don't like being at war in Iraq? You don't want it to spread and engulf the entire planet? You don't like your life being dictated by the gas pump? Well, you need to do something about it then, America. YOU need to start making those accountable, responsible. YOU are the only nation on this planet who can do it because the UN is headquartered right here in River City!
It really is time to stop looking backward at the 60's and to start looking forward to the world your kids are going to be living in. If you want that to be a better place, you need to start doing something about it, now. My family is. What are you doing, America? I think it's time that you really started to think about this.
God bless!

4月2日 Strange Stuff...Checking out the headlines today, I couldn't help but notice the blurb on Iran having a "super missile." What a comfort to know. It's not nuclear capable...Well, at least we think it isn't...Well, it's not supposed to be...yet. As the months have been passing, the UN continues to stomp their feet and tell Iran they can't play with nuclear toys. Iran retorts that "Of course we wouldn't do that." and the missiles keep getting bigger and faster by the day.
Here in America, we sit back and smile. We tisk to ourselves about those horrible soldiers of ours over there fighting the poor terrorists. We eat our big meals and go to bed in the comfort of just knowing nothing bad will happen to us tonight. In Iran, the arsenal continues to grow by the day, as well as their nuclear capabilities. The UN stomps their feet and tells Iran, "You can't do that! We really mean it!" like that has ever made a difference. We turn out our lights because we just know, it's all good, because nothing really effects us here anyway. We are America, after all. We're free of fear here. We're free of persecution. We can do whatever we want.
Sleep well, America. Every soldier out there putting everything they have on the line for you really appreciates all that you aren't doing for them. They've been giving you their best since 2001. What kind of support, what kind of vigilence are you giving them? Has there been any kind of improvement on the learning curve for this? What aren't you doing to ensure that Iraq doesn't turn into Iran? What aren't you doing to help them come home? What aren't you doing to make those responsible in this escalation of weapondry accountable?
I think you might want to start thinking about this now, so you won't have to think about it then because then is going to be here sooner than you think.
God bless!

4月1日 ReportersIncredible day today in news! First off the bat, God bless Jill Carrol! I'm glad and very thankful to see this lady coming home! Blessings to her and to her family! It's going to be interesting to see the journalist who emerges from this ordeal. I have hope that she is going to prove to be an even better one than before!
Another interesting fact I came upon today in reference to reporters.... Does anyone remember the embedded reporters from the beginning of this war? They're still out there and in force. I spent some time today reading about our soldiers on some of their blogs. It's a shame more of their stories aren't in the headlines, but they are on the net and I encourage all to go read what our soldiers are actually doing in Iraq. It might surprise you to find that what they are doing is making a difference and changing this world into a better place. Check it out! The AP is full of them and you can catch them over on yahoo too. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to find them. It does take an open mind and heart to read them, though.
God bless!
A Mom in America 3月23日 Pretty Cool...Saw a pretty cool headline today about some of our horrible troops in Iraq who freed three Christian hostages. Oops! I guess I'm not allowed to talk about that because these horrible soldiers were doing the same horrible job that 99.99% of the soldiers in Iraq are doing. Yeah... And the fact that they freed three Christian hostages... well that just makes it worse since no Christians are worth the effort if you would believe the trolls about here in msn.
I'm still proud that these men are free today. I'm proud that American soldiers freed them. Yup. Pretty cool headline. Will probably be ignored by most, but I saw it. I'm glad I did.
God bless!
A Mom in America 3月22日 GritAddition: Dan, after reading your comment and re-reading this post, I can see exactly what you perceived I was trying to say here. It's not what I was trying to say though. For the record, I do not now, nor have I ever thought of you as being spineless or whiney. I do think that of the media and should have stated that more clearly. I did detect a note of despair in your post, though, that really made me angry because I feel it in myself sometimes too. That makes me feel even angrier because both my sons and every soldier over there deserves more of me than that. Thus, my fingers started running and got ahead of my paragraphs in the post below. For any misunderstanding, I do apologize as I should have read it through your eyes as you were mentioned, before I hit the publish button. I was sloppy and I didn't. You had enough spine to bring it to my attention as a gentleman and I appreciate that!
God bless and my intent was not to offend.

Grit
I was over at Danno's this morning, and while Dan, I really love you, your last post thoroughly p*ssed me off...especially coming from you! The more I think about it, the more p*ssed off I get about it too! There is NOTHING on this planet that p*sses me off more than spineless, whiney, dispair and while yes, I have been guilty of it at times too, the times we are living today call for all of us to find more than that in ourselves and in our nation.
Iraq three years out from the onset of this war...Let's just look at that one for a few, shall we? There's a math error in that statement, people. Our nation, for all of the liberal media out there who cannot do math, has been at war since September 11, 2001. It is NOW March 22, 2006. Our nation has been at war for 4 years, 6 months and 10 days as of today. Do the math. That's how it comes out. So, for all of you out there who are saying that we've been at war for three years now, I say to you, BITE ME and you can't count.
Now, for the revisionist historians on the planet and in the media who cannot see beyond the pain of Cindy Sheehan, on September 11, 2001 our nation was attacked by an Islamo-fascist sub-group. The "minnions of Al-Qaida" as it were. These are the same people we have been fighting against in Iraq for the past three years. These are the same ones who plan to wipe out the entire Shiite population of the planet because they don't believe in the same Islamo-fascist ideology as Al-Qaida. These are the same Islamo-fascists that will be knocking at the door of the US when they've gotten Islam "cleansed". They are not nice people. They do not like you or me or anyone else who does not agree with them. So, for all of you out there who cherish your "atheism", unless you want to be picking lice out of your beard or wearing a burka, I suggest you think real hard about that one because these people aren't real keen on those who don't sit evening prayer with them the way they are told to.
So what about Iraq? Right now in Iraq we are facing a situation among the Iraqi people where they are trying to establish a "survival of the fittest" situation. Being a Christian, I can tell you right off the bat that the whole evolution/survival of the fittest thing is a crock and this ain't gonna work. In Iraq as in our own nation, and any other democracy on the planet, it's not a situation of survival of the fittest. It's a situation of "How do we make this work for us?" What needs to happen in Iraq isn't about soldiers and it isn't about weapons, it's about unity. The people of Iraq have to chose to unite and you know what, America? That's not going to happen until we show them how that is done. We do that by making the media accountable to us and to every American soldier who is standing on foriegn soil. Our media is only behaving this way because they are making money from us to do so. If we stop giving them what they want, they will be forced to give us what we want...a balanced view of what our soldiers are doing in Iraq.
We also need to clearly and difinitively send a solid message to the people of Iraq that we intend to back every soldier we have there and that we are not about giving up. In every war this nation has ever fought, that's right, every stinking one, we are always at our worst right before we kick it in and get the job done. This war is no different. It's horrible. All war is and all war has always been, but America, it's going to get worse unless you unify and show the world we will not allow this nation to be attacked ever again. Or, we can all go whine in the corner where we think it's safe, wring our hands, pick at our beards and mend our burkas. My father didn't do that in World War II, and I'm glad he didn't. My husband didn't do that when he stood to go in on the first wave of this war. My son's aren't doing that now. They are standing for you and as one mom in America, I think it's about high time we ALL started standing for all of them!
You can all go feel sorry for yourselves if you want to, but quite frankly it's not going to do this country, Iraq or the world much good if you do because in order to preserve our right to diversity in this country and on this planet, America, we have to take a stand here. We have to be strong for ourselves, for this planet and for ever single one of our soldiers who has and is risking all they have for us. It's easy to wave a flag in the beginning. It's much harder to stand till the end. Our country was once a place that had the grit to do that. It's what we were built on. My hope and the hope of my family, is that there is still enough of it left in us to bring us through this time as a nation whole and secure.
God bless!
A Mom in America 3月15日 Speaking of Comedy.....Forgive me for being human, but I haven't been following the trial stuff all that closely for the past few weeks. Anybody out there know what happened with Saddam's hunger strike? I mean, I saw the pictures from today and read the article, and to me, it seemed like this did not look or sound like a man who has been on a hunger strike for the past three weeks. I'm no expert or anything, but he really didn't look like he was starving to me. Please do fill me in on this one as I would love to know.
God bless!
A Mom in America 3月13日 ChoicesHad a really interesting conversation with a friend from Scotland last night. Really interesting. It snowed yesterday where he lives and he sent me some photo's of the park near his home and of some of the buildings in his apartment complex. I was really impressed at how simple and plain they looked and commented to him about it. He explained to me that it was the government housing that he lived in. I was horrified. I was even more floored by his telling me that somewhere near 60% of the people there live in government housing! I went into a complete brain warp at this! To me, living in the United States, "government housing" means "the projects." It is not a way I would want to live and I couldn't imagine 60% of this country of kilts, Braveheart and Highlands living that way because I thought the US was the only place on the planet that had something of this nature. In my astoundedness, I began asking questions about it because I was really having a problem accepting it. Then he gently reminded me that after World War II, a big chunk of his country was homeless because of the bombing. In his country at that time, the government took the responsibility for housing the people and the situation there now has developed out of that situation. He explained to me that it wasn't like here in the States, that while yes, they did have some slums, alot of the housing was beautiful! In that moment, I realized just how limited I am in my understanding and view of things because I have never faced the situations others have. The closest I could come to understanding the devastation of Europe after World War II is the South in this country after the Civil War. Our solution was to let capitalism compensate and the carpet baggers moved in. The South did rebuild through a painful process as told in the history books. I see the cities, the rusty photo's of the devastation that was and it's so far distant that I have difficulty understanding it but know my country will always be affected by it. I see Scotland and I see a country that will always be affected in a very different way from what happened to them...and much of Europe with them. As I see this I begin to view their side of "the heated political debate of socialism vs. capitalism" with a little more understanding. While I really have difficulty seeing any socialist solutions as acceptible, friends of mine from different parts of the world have equal difficulty accepting capitalist solutions as well and much of that is due to what our nations have faced and how they dealt with it..choices made by our ancestors that still affect us today. I find this a very incredible thing, but hope it lends me a bit more understanding in conversing with frineds both near and far. This conversation also made me very accutely aware of how different this nation and her people are from the rest of this world. We have our bickerings and show it to all of the world, but we do still stand, amazingly enough, and I think deep down it's because most of us do love what we have here. We just all feel it needs tweaking our own individual way and we all know we're right. It has broadened the view of this American, though, taking a stroll through a park after a snowfall in a land very far from my home wearing someone elses boots for a while. I think both my friend and I are a little richer from the experience. I know that I am.
A Mom in America 3月6日 Theory....I know I'm not supposed to talk about the news but I'd just like to put forward a theory. I was reading through the headlines and I was just struck by the fact that this whole cartoon things just getting a bit old at this point. So what does al Qaida do? Has the good ole #2 guy al Zawahari release a rant on it....like anyone on the face of the planet cares! After seeing what he said, I'm really struck by the fact that it's okay for him to bash the gays and the Jews, but nobody can say anything about what he does or believes.
I haven't seen the cartoons. I don't intend to. From what I have read they are probably in poor taste, however,
when you have people blowing themselves up in the name of any God, you kind of open yourself up for ridicule, if you know what I mean. Perpetuating warfare because you're bent on destroying anyone who doesn't think or believe what you do is not the best way of convincing people you are serious and telling your people to create anarchi all over the planet does not give people any motivation to listen to anything you say...
So my theory is that al Qaida really doesn't have a point. If cartoons are what they are using to justify the terror they are trying to spread all over this planet, then I really don't think they have much of a leg to stand on.
I'm off to the blogwalk!

A Mom in America 2月16日 Countdown continues....67 and a Wakeup until VET MARCH 2006
America, where are you going to be on April 25, 2006?
You know what? I had a couple of trolls by today...who have been previously banned from this site and continue to be, and one asked me if I actually thought anyone was going to show up to the Vet March. It was a comment on the "Interesting Times" post from yesterday.
It really made me kind of laugh because I really do think people are going to show up. I'd like to say it's a "faith" thing, this irrational belief that good things can happen. In a way I guess it is because I also put it on faith that the Ryans would get the money they needed to bring Eddie home. Kind of a good feeling to know that if I do my part, others will do theirs as well. So yeah, I do believe people are going to show up. I believe that people are going to stand behind our soldiers and veterans and the right things are going to start happening.
Call me a dreamer. I don't care because my dream world is such a better place than your reality that even as a dream it threatens you to the point where you have to try to come into it and destroy it. The thing is, you can't destroy the hope I chose to cling to Peter and Wendy. The fact that it bugs you so much that I'm still here makes it all the more worthwhile in staying...and growing...and getting stronger...not because I'm going out, but because others are coming in.
It makes you nuts, doesn't it? I don't even have to come to you but you do have to come to me. That's how weak you really are. That's how great your reality really is.
Yup, the eject button still works and in point of fact, this is still MY ISLAND. You two are banned and anything you post here will always be deleted. You can take that one to the bank.
God bless!

2月15日 Interesting Times...I'm seeing something today that's really kind of encouraging. Maybe it's something that has always been and my world has been so small that I just wasn't seeing it. I don't know. What I do know is that over the past few months, I'm seeing a translation of what is happening here on the internet into the world we live in and it's incredibly exciting!
We get on here in our blogs. We chat. We argue. We mull ideas around. We discuss everything from politics to pencils and in so doing, define ourselves and our worlds as we see them passing everyday. With all of us, though, it seems that we are living defining moments in history that make up this era we are passing through and we are getting out there and causing changes to happen in it. With me, it's been a matter of writing about a wounded soldier who lives not too far from here. It caused me to look beyond that one soldier and see so many who are equally wounded and struggling and to find opportunities to change that situation. For another, it's caused him to stop and look beyond the politics of a situation to the root cause and stand with half a million others to state peacefully that they want change now.
Incredible things to witness, even more still to be a part of. It makes me wonder if we really are going to be able to leave this world a better place for our children. It gives me hope for that, at least...and makes me wonder what tomorrow will bring because with each passing day, I am more and more amazed.
God bless!
A Mom in America Hunger strike68 and a Wakeup until VET MARCH 2006
America, where are you going to be on April 25, 2006?
One day closer to the Vet March and Saddam is still on a hunger strike. I have some questions about that. First, does this hunger strike mean no water? Next, does it mean he isn't eating at all or does it mean he just isn't eating when he is hungry? Just a question or two. That's all.
God bless!

2月14日 Headlines....69 and a Wakeup until VET MARCH 2006
America, where are you going to be on April 25, 2006?
So big tadoos today are that Saddam is on a hunger strike.... I have absolutely no sympathy for him, and the protest in Beirut on the anniversary of the Hariri assasination are underway. Mac posted a good one on that yesterday that kind of fills out the rest of the story for those interested. On other news, it seems that VP Cheney has proved conclusively to the world why politicians should not be allowed to own guns and the UN has decided that Guantanamo is not on their list of top vacation spots to visit... Seems to me if they had done their job on either Iraq or terrorist in the first place, Guantanamo would not exist...but that's just me being the subversive right winger that I am. Leave it to me to find one of those oxymorons of world politics. Or is it a palindrome? Yeah...
I pray for our soldiers, that God will protect them and their hearts through this...and I pray for all of us, for clear vision, unity and endurance.
God bless!
